Website Popups
Show popups on your website — after a delay, on scroll or on exit — that send visitors straight to a WhatsApp chat.
Overview
Website Popups lets you show popups on your own website that send visitors straight to a WhatsApp chat — or to any link you choose. You build each popup in Kraya (heading, text, button, colors), decide when it appears (after a few seconds, when the visitor scrolls, or as they're about to leave) and on which pages, then paste one snippet into your website once. From then on, every change you make in Kraya shows up on your site without touching the code again.
What you can do
- Create as many popups as you need, each with its own heading, text, optional image, button and colors
- Pick a ready-made theme (WhatsApp, Kraya Blue, Dark, Soft Blue) or set your own colors
- Place it in the Center, Bottom right, or as a full-width Bottom bar
- Show it after a delay, at a scroll depth, or when a desktop visitor is about to leave — whichever happens first
- Limit it to specific pages, hide it on mobile, and stop it reappearing for a set time after a visitor closes it or clicks it
- Preview it live on desktop and phone, and on your actual site, before publishing
- Publish, pause, duplicate, delete and reorder popups from one list
- Install everything with a single snippet that runs all your popups
How it works
- Open Integrations Hub and click Website Popups ("Show popups on your website that send visitors straight to a WhatsApp chat."). The page lists your popups with their Trigger, Pages and Status.
- Every popup has one button. When a visitor clicks it, the link opens in a new tab and the popup closes. To start a WhatsApp chat, use a
https://wa.me/<your number>link; anyhttp://orhttps://link works. - A popup only appears on your site when it's Live. New popups start as Draft; Paused popups stay hidden until you resume them.
- Only one popup shows at a time. If several are ready at once, the one higher in the list wins; the others wait their turn.
- Each popup shows at most once per page view. With Show once per visitor on, a visitor who closes it, or clicks its button, won't see it again for the number of hours you set. This is remembered in their browser, so it applies across visits on that device.
- An organization-wide Minimum gap between popups (30 seconds by default) stops visitors seeing one popup straight after another, including across pages.
- Popups don't create leads in Kraya on their own. The lead arrives when the visitor messages you on WhatsApp, like any other inbound chat.
Step-by-step guide
Installing the snippet (once)
- On the Website Popups page, click Install Snippet.
- Click Copy Code.
- Paste it into your website once, just before the closing
</body>tag — on every page, typically through your site's footer or theme settings. It also works through a tag manager such as Google Tag Manager.
"Paste once before the closing body tag. All your popups run from this one script." You never need to change the snippet when you add, edit or pause popups.
Creating a popup
- Click New Popup.
- Content
- Popup name — for your team only ("Only visible to your team.").
- Popup image — optional, PNG or JPG up to 100 KB.
- Heading (required, up to 60 characters) and Primary text (optional, up to 120).
- Button label (required, up to 25) and Redirecting link (required — for example
https://wa.me/919876543210).
- Appearance — choose a Theme, or adjust Background, Text, Button and Button text colors (it then shows as Custom colors). Pick a Position: Center (over a dimmed background), Bottom right, or Bottom bar.
- Triggers — turn on one or more. "Whichever fires first shows the popup."
- Show after a delay — 0 to 60 seconds (0 shows it immediately). On by default at 5 seconds.
- Show on scroll depth — once the visitor has scrolled 10% to 100% of the page.
- Show on exit — when the cursor moves to leave the page. Desktop only; it never fires on phones or tablets.
- Display rules
- Show on pages — leave blank for every page, or list paths separated by commas, such as
/pricing, /courses/*. - Show once per visitor — on by default, with Hide after closing for and Hide after button click for set in hours (1 to 8,760; default 168, one week).
- Show on mobile — turn off to run desktop only.
- Show on pages — leave blank for every page, or list paths separated by commas, such as
- Check the Live preview (switch between desktop and phone) and the Summary panel, or click Preview on site to see it on your real website.
- Click Save & Publish. The popup goes live within about a minute.
Choosing pages
| You enter | It shows on |
|---|---|
| (blank) | Every page |
/pricing | Exactly /pricing |
/courses/* | /courses and every page under it |
/blog* | Any path starting with /blog (for example /blog, /blog-2026, /blog/post) |
Matching ignores capital letters, a trailing slash and anything after ?. You can paste a full URL; only its path is used. Up to 50 paths, each up to 255 characters.
Managing popups
- Pause / resume — use the switch on a published popup in the list, or Pause / Resume in the editor. A draft has to be published once before it can be paused.
- Change priority — drag rows in the list ("Popups higher in the list win when several are ready to show at the same time."). New popups are added at the bottom. Clear any search first to drag.
- Duplicate — creates "name copy" as a draft.
- Delete — "Deleting "
<name>" removes it from your website immediately." - Minimum gap between popups — set once for your whole account, from 0 to 3,600 seconds.

Role-based behavior
- Admins can create, edit, publish, pause, duplicate, delete and reorder popups, and change the account-wide gap.
- Members can see the list but not change anything.
Limits and quotas
- Available on all plans, including Free.
- No limit on the number of popups.
- Image: PNG or JPG, up to 100 KB.
- Changes reach your site within about a minute, as visitors' browsers can keep the popup list for up to 60 seconds.
- "Mobile" means a screen up to 768 px wide or a touch-only device.
- The dashboard doesn't show popup views or clicks yet. If you've connected an AI assistant, it can report each popup's lifetime impressions, clicks, dismissals and click rate.
Common edge cases
- The popup never appears. Check it's Live, not Draft or Paused; that the snippet is on that page; that the page matches Show on pages; and that you haven't already closed or clicked it in this browser within the cooldown. Use a private window to test as a new visitor.
- Exit popup doesn't show on my phone. Expected — exit triggers are desktop only. Add a delay or scroll trigger if you want it on mobile too.
- A different popup showed instead of mine. Another live popup higher in the list matched the same page and was ready first. Drag yours higher.
- A second popup appeared too soon. Raise Minimum gap between popups.
- I edited the popup but my site shows the old version. Wait about a minute and reload.
Troubleshooting
Problem: "Pick at least one trigger, or the popup will never show."
- Fix: Turn on at least one of delay, scroll depth or exit.
Problem: "Enter a redirecting link starting with http:// or https://"
- Fix: Use a full link, for example
https://wa.me/919876543210.
Problem: "Use at most 50 pages, each up to 255 characters."
- Fix: Shorten the list; use
/*to cover a whole section with one entry.
Problem: "File size exceeds the 100 KB limit." or "Only PNG or JPG images are allowed."
- Fix: Compress the image or save it as PNG/JPG.
Problem: "Publish the popup before pausing or resuming it"
- Fix: A draft is already hidden; publish it first if you want to control it with pause and resume.
Decision tree
- Not showing anywhere → is the snippet installed before
</body>? → is the popup Live? → does the page match Show on pages? - Shows once then never again → that's Show once per visitor working; test in a private window.
- Shows on desktop, not phone → Show on mobile off, or it relies only on the exit trigger.
FAQs
-
Does a popup create a lead in Kraya? Not by itself. Point the button at your WhatsApp number (
https://wa.me/…); when the visitor messages you, the lead is created like any other inbound WhatsApp chat. -
Do I need a new snippet for each popup? No. One snippet runs all your popups, and later changes don't need it to be re-pasted.
-
Can I schedule a popup for certain dates? Not currently. Publish and pause it manually.
-
How is this different from the WhatsApp Widget? The WhatsApp Widget is a chat button that's always on the page. A popup appears at a moment you choose, with your own message, to prompt the visitor to start that chat.
Tips and best practices
- Use exit popups on pricing and checkout pages, where a last prompt to chat helps most.
- Keep the heading short and the button specific — "Chat on WhatsApp" beats "Click here".
- Start with the one-week cooldown so returning visitors aren't nagged.
- Put your most important popup at the top of the list.
